The Legacy Series is a showcase for artists that have been with the label for a long time or are a significant or part of our history. Each Legacy release has new remixes, unreleased material, remasters and will be either a single or double vinyl with a single or double CD.
Alk-e-d’s Legacy EP is a thing of beauty, both musically and visually. The record comes shrinkwrapped, and the sleeve has a spine. All 4 remixes on the vinyl are superb, pushing the boundaries of hardcore and displaying the qualities of Alk-e-d’s original tunes while maintaining their integrity and bringing them to a whole new level.
The Sublove remix is a slight departure from the usual KF sound, and is an epic journey with subtle rhythms and clever edits transforming the original tune into something sublime and masterful. Sublove is a firm favourite of Alk-e-ds, and both he and I were thrilled that he agreed to do a remix for us.
Darwin is, of course, one of the most prolific and talented artists working in hardcore today, and his remix of “Home” takers it front and center of the current rave scene, without ever losing the essence of the original track, the haunting breakdown and the surprising change of direction.
Shadowplay asked to remix Step Up just because he wanted to, and the remix he brought back was immediately loved by Alk-e-d and myself, and had to be included on the vinyl. A crisp and heavy jungle tune, with both feet firmly in the old skool, this is a superb slice of nostalgia, both original and old skool in sound and concept.
As for my remix, I have always loved “Not The One” and felt it the most under rated of Alk-e-ds tunes, and my only aim was to keep it traditionally old skool, but freshen it up and add my personal Luna-C flourishes to the proceedings, and I am very pleased with the result.
