Some stuff. And can I have some money please? Don't panic....
Jun 29, 07:20 PM
Hey Everyone,
Before I ask for money, a big thank you to those who donated money recently:-
Andrew Abernethy, Brain Damage Records, M S KIRKE, Silvano Rua and Stefan Schön Big up to al of you, much appreciated, thank you :o)

Heres a picture of my laptop. Remember my old turntables that I covered in skateboard stickers? Well, some things never change. This pic was taken on my new iphone. I feel like I am one of those people. My fingers are to big for the iphone keyboard. Sigh. And, in a trifecta of poncyness, I have succumbed to the Twits. You can follow me on Twitter…I am djlunac. Follow me if you want to be bored to death by the inane details of my life lol. Also, I have added this to the contact details along with my KF USA phone number. I am in New Jersey – please check the time difference if you are calling!
Now, on with the blog post. I hope you are all doing well? I suppose the law of averages means that some of you must be, at least. Anyway, hello. Sorry I haven’t written too much recently, but rest assured that it is because I have been busy. I haven’t just been sitting around playing Shadow Of The Colossus. Although, I might have done that a little bit. Its an oldie but goodie.
What I have been doing is working on music. I have this track with a simply amazing breakbeat in it, but I just cant get the rest of it right. I have been working on it for weeks and weeks. Its driving me nuts…I can feel that if I get it right it will be brilliant.
If.
So there’s that. I have also finished a remix for me old pal Brak, working under his alias Udachi. Its an old skool, 140bpm style remix, and its come out pretty well if I say so myself, which I do. So thats good too. I actually have quite a few new tunes, and am still deciding what will go on KFA47. Its gonna take some time, I think. For now, rest assured that while I might not have been saying too much, I am doing quite a lot :o) And some of the tracks will be the next KFD release, along with the upload of the next podcast.
Which brings me on to the podcast, and its delay. Its not overdue yet, but it nearly is lol. As many of you know, I was hoping to do Supaset 9 as Podcast 9, along with a competition. Unfortunately, I have been working on personal music, rather than set music, so I am no closer to getting that done than I was on my last blog post. Oops. Whatever though, I will either do a usual podcast, or I will get Supaset 9 finished. At some point this month, a new podcast will go up so thats the important thing!
Now, the main reason for this post. The experiment with the back catalogue being free to download has proved pretty good I think. At least, lots of people like it. So I want to move on to the next phase, which is making new KFA tracks available. I would like for KFA to keep releasing stuff, and for you to keep receiving it. Of course, my move to the USA has made some of that a little inconvenient to say the least, seeing as many of my artists are in the UK.
In September, Idealz is coming over to visit and to make some new tunes. So I would like for people to donate towards his ticket and expenses while he is here. He has already bought his ticket, so the tracks are gonna happen anyway, but what happens with the tracks will be up to you. We will have time to make two brand new tunes at least. Once they are made, and Idealz has flown back to the UK, I will remix two of his older tracks in different styles to what we have made in the studio. So there will be a total of 4 tracks in various styles, perhaps more if we get more done. There is no suggested amount you have to pay – I will leave that up to you. Every person who donates will get a link to all of the tracks, regardless of how many people donate in total, or how much is donated. Please title the payment as “Idealz Donation” and I will make a note of your email address for when the tracks are ready, and will email you the link for them at that time!
If we only get a few donations, those that do will still get the tracks, but I will then add the tracks to some MP3 stores at a later date. It will also mean that the only way many of the KFA artists will have new material available will be if they happen to come to the USA on holiday. However, if we get enough donations to cover the costs of the visit, then those that donated will get the tracks, and at a later date I will release the tracks as a KFD. More importantly, it will mean I can invite other KFA artists to the studio and they will come because it is the price of a flight etc which would stop them. Alk-e-d has already expressed an interest, and Poosie will be coming at some point too.
I think this is a nice idea, a better one than trying to sell MP3s, which isn’t such a great way of doing things IMO, and its a different approach. By the way, Idealz didn’t suggest this – this is my idea. I would like to find a way of paying artists without having to sell vinyl, and if this works, it could be fantastic. Its up to you all how this turns out. Its an experiment, one that I mentioned in a blog post a few months ago, and I will let you know how it goes…Feel free to ask questions if I haven’t made myself clear. I will answer in the comments section below! So, if you feel like this is something you would like to be part of, please click the Donate button to the left of this post :o)
By the way, I am playing an old skool set in New York this weekend. Its a small lounge style party. The night is called “Ether” and I am playing from 12-1am and the address is:-
Happy Ending,
302 Broome Street,
New York, NY
Come say hi if you can :o) ANd I am still waiting for ideas for the tracks for Supaset 10 – there have been quite a few, but everyone has chosen different things which doesn’t really help me too much lol. I was hoping everyone would choose certain tracks so I knew what people wanted lol…ah well. I will have to post on other forums and try to get a greater consensus of what were favorites.
Okay, thats it for now! As soon as I have more to say and post, I will say and post it! Huzzah! Outtahere…

I live like 20 minutes from you, dude. When we gonna get to go out for drinks or something? I might be pretty amateurish in a studio, but dicking around on some tracks could be interesting if that’s where you’re locked in these days.
I’ll toss you on my twitter (I’m forkfingers). Fortunately a haven’t succumbed to the iphone thing yet…
I’ll definitely contribute to the flight, Idealz has always been one of favorites on KFA, but maybe you could use stateside artists more. You said you’re remixing something for Brak, but where’s AC at these days? And Milo’s just over in Rochester and I know he’s made the drive down to NYC more than a couple of times. And then there’s the bunch up in Toronto… just a thought.

Chris, I like your business acumen. Donation given ;) and looking forward to seeing what Mr Dealz comes up with! I need to get some suggestions over to you for the supaset too.
Oh and I succumbed to the iPhone frenzy too this month. Do yourself a favour and download RJDJ from the iPhone store. It’s quite simply awesome, just make sure you plug in the microphone/headphone things before you start it. Let me know what you think!

I have just donated to the Idealz vacation fund… err I mean the Knitforce Artists Development fund.
To Architech:
AC Slater no longer makes hardcore. He’s gone soft on us and is currently headlining parties as an electro dj, as have most of the old Pitched Up artists.

seriously? I saw his name on a flyer recently (which mostly featured bands) and thought that was funny, but was like “cool, hardcore making a name!” I’m so sad now.
In my opinion, KFA, Pitched Up, and Whojamaflip are the only labels to release good hardcore in the past 3 years. All the labels I used to like (Raw Elements, TNC, Blatant, Electronic) have all disappointed me by not adapting. I almost don’t blame AC since I’ve started spinning more other stuff (old skoool, dubstep, & breaks) since I’m bored with everything (even most drum&bass!). Everything sounds the same it did 10 years ago. And now that 2 of the 3 labels I named are defunct, Chris is our only hope for hardcore!
No pressure!

Gimmie some supaset 9!

Nice idea regarding donating for the ticket!
I can’t wait to hear the new Udachi remix, though I wish he still produced under his old name. What little of his hardcore productions I have heard were always first rate.
A shame about all the pitched up guys but you can’t really blame them. Everyone’s gotta get paid and there’s not much money in hardcore on this side of the pond. One could also say that I am soft just because I don’t dj full time and have an actual job.
:)

Hey Chris, How was your first 4th of July as an American? I hope you blew something up. Or watched someone else blow something up.
I love America.

You asked for suggestions for Supaset 10 ?
I heard the award winning D&B track “High Contrast – If we ever” on Moving Shadow. Really good but a little bit weak somehow.. that brings me to the 94 Nookie remix of “Soul Promenade” by Omni Trio. Also MS. Awesome track, sure you remember but it lacks of FX and Stabs. And the Pianowork could need a little lift up, if you know what I mean. More instant switches in style and tempo (breaks) also dubed female vocals.I never ever heard a Hardcore remix of the old animated movie the last Unicorn yet. (´Sure “I´m alive” sounds proper on 4*4 Hardcore)
So long
